Cypraea pantherina is a beautiful cowrie coming from the Red Sea. It was my first cowrie when I was 13 years old and my friend Maurizio Ostini gave me one nice specimen coming from the Dahlak Islands, fished by himself when living in Massaua. Since then, I have collected a lot of cowries of this species. I show here a very large piece of 102.4 mm (provenience Hurghada - Egypt, from Philippe Quiquandon) and 3 other specimens chosen for the dark and light colour and for the callous, all of them from Fabio Porfiri.
Luria pulchra is an uncommon and difficult species of Red Sea. Rarely, one can see a large specimen over 60 mm with no faults or marks on dorsum. I have got the marvelous shell exposed here, from Izzy Yeroslaski - he told me that it probably was the best pulchra he has ever had - a giant piece of 80 mm in gem conditions with a flawless, uniform dorsum and 4 lovely dark spots on anterior and posterior extremities. Unique for the combination of quality and size. For sure, one of my best cowrie, unobtainable now, at any price.
